The most famous and visible landmark of the town is Trenčín Castle. Take enough time to visit it so that you won’t regret that many of its secrets have remained hidden from you.
The executioner’s house, the „Hangman’s House“, or „House of the City Executioner“, as its traditional name suggests, is historically and by urban tradition associated with the administration of justice and imprisonment. To what extent this association is justified is not entirely clear. According to some accounts, at the end of the 19th century this house was the home of the town’s dragoon, and for a time it was also a prison.
The works of art exhibited in Constance /St. Michael’s Carnery/ represent a small collection of sacred art in the collections of the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín. Gothic sculptures are complemented by sculptures and paintings from the Baroque period.
